September Delivery 1 Done

Just recently concluded our first delivery for September with the new wood and currently still cleaning, tagging, bagging, and packing orders.  We will be on our second trip for this trip shortly.  So far, these are the things we are occupied with:

  1. First leg of delivery of big orders of the new variety has started, we are now preparing for the second trip of the month
  2. We have called/messaged clients for their schedules.
If you’ve not received anything and you are expecting a delivery of the new variety (an order you placed before the wood arrived) — please message us.
  3. Preparing pallets of Spiderwood for shipping
  4. Preparing mixed pallets for shipping

Thank you everyone!

New Wood Variety has arrived!

You guys do not know how happy we were to receive our container from Asia a few days ago.

After experiencing delays after delays that no one can be blamed for. We placed the order in April, expecting it to be loaded by the end of that month and arrive in the US around June.  They couldn’t load because of rain.  They cannot load wood because it will mold.  The container finally got loaded and was ready to leave port in the middle of June.  The ports imposed quotas.  Red Sea drought and attacks have made it difficult to pass by Suez Canal and Panama Canal,  thus ship schedules have been delayed while other ships have to reroute — forcing ports to impose restrictions and quotas.  Our container had to sit and wait in port for several weeks until permission to leave was advised.   When it departed, the ETA given to us was August 15.  Then it became 28.  Another email said it should arrive on the 26th.

The 40-ft container from Asia finally docked at Port last August 30 and was delivered to the warehouse last Friday, Sept 6, at 9:00 am.

Once again, thank you, clients, for patiently waiting.  We will come with the coolest truck ever! –bearing at least 7 kinds of wood. Aside from our NC driftwood, we are bringing Mopani, Spider Wood, Dragon Wood, Shrimpwood, Savannah Wood, Manzanita, and Grapewood.

We are in the process of tagging and labeling the wood.  We will be ready to deliver by next week.  See you all soon!

It will probably arrive at the warehouse 3-4 days after.  Days after that will be dedicated to sorting, packing, and labeling the incoming wood.  To our clients who have already placed their orders, thank you so much for waiting, we will deliver your orders as soon as possible.

AUGUST 2024 DELIVERY

Side trip to The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art located in Charlotte.
Four stories of art from the Bechtler Family’s collection. We saw an Andy Warhol painting of the family, Jasper Johns’ lithographs, and even a picasso earthenware art piece. They also have good coffee for clients at the first floor.

May Delivery done

May delivery is done!

We visited old clients I had not had a chance to visit for a few years since the pandemic and also made trips to new ones. I had to start late for this schedule though as I was experiencing back spasms. I do not know how they came to be — I thought I was adjusting well, however, I did gain some weight, so maybe that contributed to my back pain. What I do know is that it hurts a lot.  So much so that I had to visit the ER to get some relief. After a week of medication, I was ok and ready to leave. I am more than happy to be home and resting as I can slowly feel the pain creeping in on our drive home. Currently, I am slowly taking it easy. The pain pills are keeping some pain at bay + a chiropractor visit this week should help with my predicament.

We saw some interesting stuff on our trip– a missile outside a house that is full of cool nautical stuff, some goats and chicken, and an ice cream shop that was established in the 1920s.

Many thanks to our clients, new and old –for your patronage. It warms our hearts how you guys can sell our driftwood so well. We look forward to seeing you again.

Dropped by Longacre’s Modern Dairy for some “cookie dough” and “death by chocolate” ice cream. Got some chocolate bars for the kids too.

Last Delivery for the month of April 2024

We did a lot of things in between this delivery run, aside from the usual grocery hunt of bargain cakes and books in Publix and Wegman, we were able to squeeze a walk to the Carnegie Library. Although the library building is still standing and as beautiful as ever, it is now being used as a museum lab and music hall.

We also visited the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History.  Saw dinosaur bones, gems, and insects. We also had a peek at the conservation lab where they are currently restoring a 3-part wooden Egyptian coffin. We also watched a baseball game at PNC Park, Pittsburgh Pirates vs Milwaukee Brewers. We enjoyed the game except for the part that the Brewers won. It was a good game though.

On our first day in Pittsburgh, we tried to visit the Andy Warhol Museum but it was a Tuesday and they are closed on Tuesdays.  Our fault, we didn’t check the schedule –it was a last-minute decision because we finished early.  We’ll have to save that for our next trip.

We were happy to visit clients and meet new customers. As always, we are grateful for your continued patronage.

A little update.

Our Malaysian sinking bags have sold out but we still have a handful of non-sinking Malaysian wood (mainly used for air plants and reptiles) left — less than 20 bags.

Re-stocking spiderwood.

We are expecting a new shipment of wood from Asia in June. We are excited to announce that we will be stocking our warehouse with 5-6 new types of wood, in addition to the NC and Malaysian driftwood that we currently carry. Most of the new wood has already been pre-sold, but don’t worry, we will be placing a new order once it arrives so that everyone can get their hands on the new varieties. So do get excited because we have a lot of gorgeous wood coming!
