Last Delivery for the month of April 2024

We did a lot of things in between this delivery run, aside from the usual grocery hunt of bargain cakes and books in Publix and Wegman, we were able to squeeze a walk to the Carnegie Library. Although the library building is still standing and as beautiful as ever, it is now being used as a museum lab and music hall.

We also visited the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History.  Saw dinosaur bones, gems, and insects. We also had a peek at the conservation lab where they are currently restoring a 3-part wooden Egyptian coffin. We also watched a baseball game at PNC Park, Pittsburgh Pirates vs Milwaukee Brewers. We enjoyed the game except for the part that the Brewers won. It was a good game though.

On our first day in Pittsburgh, we tried to visit the Andy Warhol Museum but it was a Tuesday and they are closed on Tuesdays.  Our fault, we didn’t check the schedule –it was a last-minute decision because we finished early.  We’ll have to save that for our next trip.

We were happy to visit clients and meet new customers. As always, we are grateful for your continued patronage.

A little update.

Our Malaysian sinking bags have sold out but we still have a handful of non-sinking Malaysian wood (mainly used for air plants and reptiles) left — less than 20 bags.

Re-stocking spiderwood.

We are expecting a new shipment of wood from Asia in June. We are excited to announce that we will be stocking our warehouse with 5-6 new types of wood, in addition to the NC and Malaysian driftwood that we currently carry. Most of the new wood has already been pre-sold, but don’t worry, we will be placing a new order once it arrives so that everyone can get their hands on the new varieties. So do get excited because we have a lot of gorgeous wood coming!

Driftwood Delivery Done

We are currently home for the Easter. Our last driftwood delivery was short. We went off our merry way last monday, thinking we will be done by Saturday. But wednesday, the truck is already almost empty. With the sad news of the Baltimore bridge collapsing + it has started to rain, we are grateful to be going home as we were expecting reroutes and increased traffic due to the incident. Our prayers to the victims and survivors.

Sharing some photos of our trip.

A Little Update

Hello everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. We are currently on our 3rd trip from my last post. We became so busy with back-to-back trips + a container of new Malaysian driftwood –bags of sinking and non-sinking — arrived. and unloading a container is always fun but requires a good amount of hard work.

Another reason is that we decided not to post our delivery schedules because more than twice on our last trip, our customers bought driftwood from another driftwood seller–thinking it was us. This guy would show up in our client’s store and if he could, would convince the store that he was me. The store owners know me because I deal with them but the sales associates, especially if new, do not.

We are ok with other people selling driftwood and our clients buying from other suppliers, such is the nature of business. In fact, our clients have other driftwood suppliers. And that is ok because they come and sell their stocks stocks and represent themselves and their businesses. But for this other guy— we are not ok with you trying to sell to our customers, pretending to be me.

If you are our client, you know that we do not force sales. Our wood is beautiful enough that customers willingly buy the amount of wood they need. We do not have any minimum quotas when you buy from our truck during delivery. We also do not get angry if our customers are not ready to buy and just want to take a look at what we have. Because most likely, the wood they do not get will be bought by another store and that client who just looked would most likely place an advance order in the next few weeks. We have to even limit sales of our bags (of wood) because we only bring limited quantities and we want to be able to distribute them to our clientele

Our wood goes through a meticulous cleaning and selection process, where each piece is handpicked and prepared individually. Each piece is carefully tagged and labeled as we get them ready for delivery. Any wood that doesn’t meet our standards in shape or condition is discarded. NC driftwood is mostly Red Cedar. This wood is naturally repellent to insects, which makes this wood (in general, not our driftwood per se) an ideal choice for artisans and carpenters when they create chests because the wood will protect its contents from unwanted pests. Our imported wood selection undergoes strict preparation in Asia because if the container doesn’t meet shipping standards upon inspection at US customs, the entire container will be rejected and will be sent back.

Thanks to our clients for the continued support. While we may not carry every type of wood, we’re happy to supply the ones you need.

3rd Florida Delivery, Feb 2024

I have been stress eating the past week for two reasons: one, I injured my shoulder and was prescribed prednisone to treat the inflammation; two, we used all our slates and the weather is not cooperating so my guy cannot get the slate we need.

I am now off the drug and in a much better mood, and yes, my shoulder is still as stiff as a board. And although the wind was blowing like the end of days yesterday, I was able to travel to collect slates because my slate guy was able to prepare me two pallets worth of it.  Now, we are back in business — rigid shoulder and all, heh!

We will be unloading the truck today.  Most wood has been prepped, so these days will be about breaking, edging, and drilling slates.  We will be leaving NC on Sunday, Feb 18, and should be ready to start doing deliveries around Jacksonville and Daytona Beach areas starting Monday, Feb 19.

I thank you again for your patience and patronage.  Oh, and happy Valentine people! See you all soon!

2nd Florida January 2024 Delivery Done

Got home a couple of days ago from our 2nd Florida run. We had to cut the trip short and leave for home last Wednesday because we had nothing more to sell. Had to call my other clients to apologize with a promise that we would do another one in early February to cover delivery routes. The truck was filled to the brim when we left for this trip and we thought we could spread it out amongst our clients. How wrong we were and how happy we are to prepare for another Florida delivery.

Thank you so much everyone!

Back in Florida for a second delivery run (Jan2024)

Hello everyone, left NC yesterday and am currently in Florida today and for the rest of the week. The truck is full — from slated driftwood to unbased ones.  We also have XXL wood as well as Manzanita and Grapewood.

If you are not in our delivery list, you may call me at 252-423-0095.  Our trips are scheduled in advance but we might be able to squeeze in an extra delivery or two if your location is along the way.  However, if your location is quite far from our plotted delivery route, we can work a schedule where we can include you in our next delivery in your area.

If you cannot wait for our next schedule, we can always ship you a pallet.  Either way, we would be doing our best to get you the wood you need — just let us know.

Good morning, Florida!
